Position Overview:

The Clinical Data Management SQL Programmer supports the implementation of Bracketís products and services to meet customerís needs. This position is responsible for working with other data management staff and internal project team members to ensure on time and accurate deliverables; implementing assigned programming/analytical tasks; performing unit testing; documenting his or her work according to accepted quality principles; and supporting testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively within a multi-disciplinary project team to complete assigned tasks on time and within budget
  • Performs all work in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Working Instructions and Best Practices
  • Assists in developing and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Working Instructions and Best Practices
  • Assist with other departmental initiatives and projects as required
  • Enhance the Bracket business model by institutionalizing business processes, implementing best practices and templates, and seeking ways to work more efficiently

Configuration and Development

  • Assume responsibility for the design, development and on-time delivery of project specific configurations and customizations
  • Work directly with the external and internal clients to prepare, adapt, or agree on all specifications
  • Create and document system design specifications and other technical documents as required
  • Understand and follow all coding standards
  • Create robust, well documented code
  • Create database objects as required
  • Complete unit testing and peer review documentation as required
  • Support test script development and performance of user acceptance testing†
  • Support all phases of testing by efficiently diagnosing and resolving defects
  • Integrate implemented code and database objects into release application
  • Participate in all post live study changes including risk assessment, specifications, testing, and interactions with study team for shared activities
  • Recommend, design and implement on-going application and architectural improvements

Application Support

  • Diagnose and resolve defects
  • Identify areas where applications are impacting the underlying data. Work internal team to define test cases required to determine impact to data
  • Complete all required change control documentation including updates to requirements, design and other technical documents as required
  • Deploy resolution to testing and production environment as required
  • Consult with internal team on defects that impact core product

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+†years of professional experience programming
  • Experience with some or all of the following technologies:
    • Microsoft SQL Server2008/2012 MySQL or other relational databases including stored procedures, views and triggers
    • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or other reporting tool
    • Team Foundation Server, Visual Source Safe, Subversion, BitBucket or other source control product
    • Proficient in SSIS or other ETL tool
  • Experience developing, enhancing and customizing configurable applications is desirable
  • Domain experience in any of the following is desirable:
    • Mobile device applications include Smartphone and Tablet
    • Electronic Data Capture applications
    • Clinical Trial Management Systems
  • Experience estimating development and support tasks
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 or experience in a regulated environment desirable
